Sie erschien im Herbst 1933 als Teil der Kurzgeschichtensammlung Winner take Nothing. ber die Kurzgeschichte, die wohl zu Hemingways gelungensten Werken gez hlt werden kann, sagte Hemingway selbst einmal: "'Another time I was leaving out good was in 'A Clean, Well-Lighted Place.' There I really had luck. I left out everything.'" Dies mag der Grund sein, warum diese Kurzgeschichte, die von einem jungen und einem alten Kellner handelt, die darauf warten, dass ein alter Mann das Caf verl t, bei genauerem Hinsehen unerwartete Tiefen aufwei t. Gegenstand dieser Arbeit ist die Untersuchung der in der Kurzgeschichte auftretenden Hauptcharaktere und deren unterschiedliche Lebenshaltung. Des Weiteren wird die hiermit verbundene nada-Thematik der Kurzgeschichte und der individuelle Umgang der Figuren mit dem nada beleuchtet. |
