STATUTES PUBLIC K and PRIVATE, GEORGII III. Regis: Being the Second Seffion of the Seventeenth Parliament of Great Britain. PUBLICK ACTS. O extend the provifions of certain acts of parlia Cap. I ment made to regulate the trials of controverted elections, or returns of members to ferve in parliament. Cap. 2. To repeal the duties on certain inhabited houses containing less than feven windows, or lights, granted by an act of the fixth year of the reign of his prefent Majefty. Cap. 3. For repealing the duties on female fervants. Cap. 4. For repealing the duties on waggons, wains, carts, and other carriages, granted by an act of the twenty-third year of the reign of his present Majesty. Cap. 5. For granting an aid to his Majesty by a land tax, ta be raised in Great Britain, for the fervice of the year one thoufand seven hundred and ninety-two. Cap. 6. For repealing the duties upon malt, granted by an ac made in the thirty-first year of the reign of his prefent Majefty, intituled, An act for granting to his Majefly additional du◄ ties upon malt. Cap. 7. For repealing a certain part of the duty upon all candies (except wax and fpermaceti candles.) a 2 Cap. 8. Cap. 8. For the more effectual preventing of frauds in the revenue of excife by common brewers. Cap. 9. For repealing certain regulations with respect to certificates on exporting tea to Ireland or America. Cap. 10. For the better execution of certain warrants issued for the apprehending and committing perfons convicted of offences against the excife laws. Cap. 11. To compel auctioneers to declare whether fales have been held under the notices now required to be given by law. Cap. 12. For granting to his Majefty the fum of four hundred thousand pounds, to be iffued and paid to the governor and company of the bank of England, to be by them placed to the account of the commiflioners for the reduction of the national debt. Cap. 13. To enable his Majefty to make provifion for the eftablishment of their royal highneffes the duke and duchefs of York and Albany; and alfo to fettle an annuity on her royal highnefs during the time of her natural life, to commence from the decease of his faid royal highnefs, in cafe her faid royal highness thall furvive him. Cap. 14. To continue the laws now in force for regulating the trade between the fubjects of his Majefty's dominions and the inhabitants of the territories belonging to the united states of America, fo far as the fame relate to the trade and commerce carried on between this kingdom and the inhabitants of the countries belonging to the faid united states. Cap. 15. For railing a certain fum of money by loans or exchequer bills, for the fervice of the year one thousand seven hundred and ninety-two. Cap. 16. For railing a further fum of money, by loans or exchequer bills, for the fervice of the year one thousand seven hundred and ninety-two. Cap. 17. For the regulation of his Majefty's marine forces while on thore. Cap. 18. For continuing and granting to his Majesty certain duties upon malt, mum, cyder, and perry, for the fervice of the year one thousand feven hundred and ninety-two. Cap. 19. For punishing mutiny and defertion; and for the better payment of the army and their quarters. Cap. 20. For providing a workhouse for the reception of the poor of the parish of Stone, in the county of Stafford, and for regulating and employing the poor therein. Cap. 21. For the more effectual prevention of frauds in the revenue of excife with refpect to the manufactering of foap. Cap. 22. To continue and amend feveral laws relating to the encouragement of the fisheries carried on in the Greenland feas and Davis's Streights; and to amend the laws now in force for the encouragement of the fisheries carried on in the feas to the fouthward of the Greenland feas and Davis's Streights. Cap. 23. For rectifying mistakes in the names of feveral of the commiffioners appointed by an act made in the last feffion of of parliament, to put in execution an act made in the fame feffion, intituled, An act for granting an aid to his Majesty by a land tax, to be raised in Great Britain, for the fervice of the year one thousand feven hundred and ninety-one; and for appointing other commiffioners, together with thofe named in the first mentioned act, to put in execution an act of this feffion of parliament, for granting an aid to his Majefty by a land tax, to be raifed in Great Britain for the fervice of the year one thousand feven hundred and ninety-two; and for indemnifying fuch perfons as have acted as commiffioners for executing the faid act, for granting an aid to his Majefty by a land tax, to be raised in Great Britain, for the fervice of the year one thousand seven hundred and ninety-one. Cap. 24. To repeal fo much of an act, made in the twentyfeventh year of his prefent Majefty, as relates to the fale of the houfe in Privy Garden, heretofore ufed as an office for the commiffioners of the lottery; and to enable his Majesty to grant the faid premises. Cap. 25. To enable the governor and company of the bank of Scotland, further to increase the capital ftock of the faid com pany. Cap. 26. For defraying the charge of the pay and cloathing of the militia, in that part of Great Britain called England, for one year, beginning the twenty-fifth day of March one thoufand feven hundred and ninety-two. Cap. 27. To indemnify fuch perfons as have omitted to qualify themselves for offices and employments; and to indemnify juftices of the peace, or others, who have omitted to regifter or deliver in their qualifications within the time limited by law, and for giving further time for thofe purposes; and to indemnify members and officers, in cities, corporations, and borough towns, whofe admiffions have been omitted to be ftamped ac→ cording to law, or, having been stamped, have been loft or miflaid; and for allowing them time to provide admiffions duly ftamped; to give further time to fuch perfons as have omitted to make and file affidavits of the execution of indentures of clerks to attornies and folicitors; for indemnifying deputy lieutenants and officers of the militia, who have neglected to tranfmit defcriptions of their qualifications to the clerks of the peace within the time limited by law; and for giving further time for that purpofe; and for allowing further time to fuch perfons as have omitted to pay the duties on the indentures and contracts of clerks, apprentices, or fervants. Cap. 28. For granting to his Majesty a certain fum of money, to be raised by a lottery. Cap. 29. For eftablishing a perminent fund for the relief and fupport of skippers and keelmen employed in the coal trade on the river Wear, in the county of Durham, who by fickness, or other accidental misfortunes, or by old age, fhall not be able to maintain themselves and their families; and alfo for the relief of the widows and children of fuch skippers and keelmen. a 3 Cap. 30. Cap. 30. For taking down the church, chancel, and tower belonging to the parish of Saint Mary Magdalen, in Bridgenorth, in the county of Salop, and for rebuilding the fame, and for enlarging the burial ground of the said parish. Cap. 31. For more effectually embanking, draining, and otherwife improving, the island of Canvay, in the county of Effex. Cap. 32. To revive and continue fo much of an act, made in the fixth year of the reign of his prefent Majefty, as relates to the conveyance of fheep between Cowes in the isle of Wight, and the ports of Southampton and Portfmouth; and to extend the fame to horfes and lambs; and to amend the faid act. Cap. 33. For explaining and amending an act, paffed in the thirty-first year of the reign of his late majefty King George the Second, intituled, An act for the encouragement of feamen empleyed in the royal navy, and for establishing a regular method for the punctual, frequent, and certain payment of their wages; and for enabling them more eafily and readily to remit the fame for the support of their wives and families; and for preventing frauds and abuses attending fuch payments; and for further extending the benefits thereof to petty officers and feamen, non-commiffioned officers of marines, and marines, ferving, or who may have ferved, on board any of his Majefty's fhips. Cap. 34. For explaining and amending an act, passed in the twenty-fixth year of the reign of his prefent Majefty, intituled, An all for the further preventing frauds and abufes attending the payment of wages, prize money, and other allowances, due for the jervice of petty officers and feamen on board any of his Majefty's fhips; and for further extending the benefits thereof to petty officers and feamen, non-commiflioned officers of marines, and marines, ferving, or who may have ferved, on board any of his Majesty's fhips. Cap. 35. For granting to his Majesty a certain sum of money out of the confolidated fund; and for applying certain monies therein mentioned for the service of the year one thousand seven hundred and ninety-two; for further appropriating the supplies granted in this feffion of parliament; and for making forth duplicates of exchequer bills, lottery tickets, certificates, receipts, annuity orders, or other orders, loft, burnt, or otherwise deftroyed. Cap. 36. To continue feveral laws therein mentioned, relating to the difcontinuing the duties payable upon the importation of tallow, hogs lard, and greafe; to the free importation of certain raw hides and fkins from Ireland and the British plantations in America; to the prohibiting the exportation of tools and utenfils made ufe of in the iron and steel manufactures of this kingdom; and to prevent the feducing of artificers and workmen employed in thofe manufactures to go into parts beyond the feas; to the better regulating of pilots, for the conducting of fhips and veffels from Dover, Deal, and the Ifle of Thanet; to the afcertaining the ftrength of fpirits by Clark's, hydrometer; e and and to the allowing the importation of seal skins, cured with foreign falt, free of duty. Cap. 37. For making perpetual an act made in the twentyfeventh year of the reign of his prefent Majefty, intituled, An a for allowing the importation and exportation of certain goods, wares, and merchandife, in the ports of Kingston, Savannah la Mar, Montego Bay, and Santa Lucea in the island of Jamaica, in the port of Saint George in the island of Grenada, in the Port f Rofeau in the island of Dominica, and in the port of Nassau in the island of New Providence, one of the Bahama Islands, under certain regulations and reftrictions. Cap. 38. For building a bridge over the river South Efk, at or near the town of Montrofe, in the county of Forfar; and for making suitable approaches thereto. Cap. 39. To enable the inhabitants of the parish of Saint Botolph without Alderfgate, in the city of London, to raise money for paying and difcharging the debts that have been contracted in repairing their parish church, and building a new workhouse. Cap. 40. For amending the laws of excife relating to the manufactory of flint glass. Cap. 41. To exempt whale oil, and other articles therein mentioned, and fold by auction in Great Britain, from the duty imposed on fuch fales. Cap. 42. To empower the high court of chancery to lay out a further fum of the fuitors money upon proper fecurities, and for applying the interest towards difcharging the expences of the office of the accountant general, and for building offices for the mafters in ordinary in chancery, and a publick office for the fuitors of the faid court, and offices for the fecretaries of bankrupts and lunaticks, and for building repofitories for fecuring the title deeds of the fuitors of the faid court, and the records and proceedings of the commiffioners of bankrupts and lunaticks. Cap. 43. For regulating the allowance of the drawback and payment of the bounty on the exportation of fugar; and for permitting the importation of fugar and coffee into the Bahama and Bermuda islands, in foreign fhips. Cap. 44. For extending the provifions of an act, made in the thirteenth year of the reign of his prefent Majefty, intituled, An act to impower the magiftrates therein mentioned to fettle and regulate the wages of perfons employed in the filk manufacture within their respective jurifdictions, to manufactories of filk mixed with other materials; and for the more effectual punishment of buyers and receivers of filk purloined and embezzled by perfons employed in the manufacture thereof. Cap. 45. To explain and amend an act, made in the feventeenth year of the reign of his late majefty King George the Second, intituled, An act to amend and make more effectual the laws relating to rogues, vagabonds, and other idle and disorderly perfons, and to houses of correction. 24 Cap. 46. |
