Pursuant to the procedure described in Part II of that proclamation, I hereby notify you that the two agreements referred to in the thirteenth recital of the proclamation will enter into force on July 24, 1955. I also notify you that the amendment to the Tariff Act of 1930 made by section 2 of Public Law 689, approved August 28, 1954, with respect to duties applicable to certain prepared fish shall enter into force on July 24, 1955. Reference is made to my proclamation of July 22, 19551 carrying out the Protocol of Terms of Accession by Japan to the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade. On September 5, 1955 Italy gave to the Executive Secretary to the Contracting Parties to the General Agreement the notification referred to in paragraph 3 of the Protocol for the accession of Japan, of intention to apply on October 5, 1955 concessions which it had negotiated initially with Japan. Accordingly, pur suant to the procedure described in Part I (b) (1) of the above-mentioned proclamation, I hereby notify you that both items 1531 in Part I of Schedule XX to the said Protocol shall not be withheld pursuant to paragraph 4 of the said Protocol on or after October 5, 1955.
